Friday Favorites – Food

Friday already! Well, maybe it doesn’t feel like “already” for all of us.  I find that the first half of my week is so busy, that by the time Wednesday night hits, it feels like the week is over and Thursday and Friday seem easy enough to get through. Another high point of this week was that we didn’t get the snow they forecasted for us yesterday / last night! Sure, it snowed a little bit, but it wasn’t much (small victory).

Anyhow, for this week’s Friday Favorite list, I had a variety of foods which I thought deserved mentioning. We’ve got a mix of fun and healthy.

Trident Jelly Bean gum

I got this from Target (in Canada) when I was browsing for fun candy. The candy trip was unsuccessful, but this gum is actually really good.  It holds its flavour for a lot longer than most sweet gum and it doesn’t get rock hard in two minutes. If you see it, buy it!

Lindt White Chocolate Mousse

This has been my first Lindt experience and I fully understand why people love it. These chocolates have a mousse filling inside… amazing.

My first Lindt "chocolate" was amazing. I can understand why everyone says this stuff is so good now!

Pineapple & grapes

There had to be something healthy on this list, right? Fruit has become part of our post-workout meal and it’s made me realize how much I missed these two in particular. For the longest time I craved apples, pears, and bananas and totally forgot about these options. Even with this not being great timing for pineapple, it’s been surprisingly good.

As long as grapes are seedless, they're perfect. Do people knowingly buy grapes with seeds??

Fancy rice cakes

No, this isn’t an oxymoron! Even though the word “fancy” doesn’t seem to match “rice cakes”, I think it works here. My personal favourite is caramel rice cakes with natural chunky peanut butter, a little strawberry jam, and banana slices. Another option is peanut butter and raisins. This is my go-to snack before teaching fitness classes and the dogs have learned to follow me around so they can eat the crumbs / pieces of banana that fall off. It makes their day so much better.

Ok, my rice cakes DON'T look like this because I'm not a Pinterest junkie.
