Age is just a number, and you’re only as old as you feel… We’ve all heard these sayings before – but how much do you believe them?
To be honest, I never really gave much thought to “aging” until I turned 30. Milestone birthdays will do that to you, I guess. I’m in full support that age is simply a number, a marker of how old you are biologically. Physical, mental, and emotional age is totally unrelated to that number – you can look, feel, and act much younger or older than your age dictates.
While our physical health can defy age, it’s directly impacted by it – physiologically. What does that mean? Well, as we age, things change within our bodies that we have little to no control over such as our bone health, hormones, sleep habits, and muscle mass. Most often, these things change for the negative – our bones get weaker, hormone levels drop, it’s harder to sleep, and muscle mass declines (and is harder to build). Sounds pretty bleak, right? Might as well throw in the towel now, because aging is inevitable…
NOOO! That’s obviously not what I’m here to tell you (come on now, you know me better). You truly do have the power to extend and improve your health in these areas, with proper nutrition and regular exercise!
The amazing people over at Northwest Pharmacy have developed Health Perch, a digital health magazine, and they’ve created this great article I wanted to share with you on health and aging. When I checked the site out, I was impressed, especially of the info graphics they used (info graphics are so popular right now, especially among us nerdy types). But really, what better way to lay out a message? It’s smart, credible, easy to read, and fun! So, give this page a visit to learn how you can take control over your age – no matter what it is!
