Hope everyone had a good Monday (does that exist?). Mine was less than stellar, but Step class helped and now I’m home blogging (yeh!) and determined to go to bed positively and forget the bad day!
The weekend trip to Columbus was great, we saw a lot of “famous” people (i.e. we consider them famous, but most people have no idea who they are), spent the day with some great friends, and to top it off – the weather there was pretty good. Our plan of going a day early to avoid the insanity was slightly less than successful. We got to the expo on Friday and it was a mad house, but we managed to see the whole thing in just a few hours. We were able to watch the Bodybuilding 212 Finals on our iPad at the hotel on Friday night, along with the Figure and Fitness finals. Our friends arrived on Saturday and we went back to the expo and quickly learned that Friday had actually been pretty quiet! Saturday was exactly as it had been last year – just PACKED with people. I’m impressed that the four of us managed to stay together all day! We covered the floor again, watched some of the amateur competition, and left for the hotel at a decent time. This year we even managed to see Arnold himself – three times! Last year we didn’t see him at all, so this impressed us. LOL. We also managed to see Phil Heath, Kai Greene, Branch Warren, Nicole Wilkins, Dana Linn & Rob Bailey, Charles Glass, and Ashley Kaltwasser.
Saturday night we went for a Mexican cheat meal, and then attempted to watch the Bikini and Bodybuilding finals on the iPad, but it wasn’t too successful. I think the bodybuilding.com stream was so busy that it kept crashing and freezing. We managed to catch the winners at least!
This is something I’ve been meaning to do for a few weeks, but am awful at remembering to take pictures. So, I made a serious effort at it today and managed to get it done – a day of typical meals. I’m glad I got it done now, as my prep is planned to start next week, so there will be less variation in my food from week to week. But, this is what a typical day has looked like for me for the last couple of weeks.
Meal 1 – egg whites & 2 whole eggs, 2 pieces of Ezekiel toast. Meal 2 – chicken, rice, roasted zucchini. Meal 3 – ground turkey, brussels sprouts, spelt pasta. Meal 4 (not pictured) – protein shake. Meal 5 – ground turkey wrap with spicy hummus, spring mix and hot sauce and a side of cottage cheese. Meal 6 – Greek yogurt with casein protein and a little natural peanut butter. You caught me on a good day where I ate out of the cottage cheese AND yogurt containers. So classy. Hey, we don’t have a dishwasher right now, so if I can avoid using dishes, I’m totally doing it.
So, there you go… I eat a fair amount of food, and I definitely eat carbs. All day long! We trained chest this morning and I had Step in the evening, so it was a big calorie burning day – have to replace those!! No need to be in a deficit YET! 😉 Have a great, happy, not-Monday day!
